Mark Donohue was a racecar driver with a degree in mechanical engineering, known for his ability to set up his own race car and drive it consistently on the absolute limit. The 1966 Canadian-American Challenge Cup season was the inaugural season of the Can-Am auto racing series. In this first year, Donohue driving a Lola T-70 Mk2 for Penske Racing won one race and finished in the top five in four other races, this gave Mark a second place in the championship points for 1966. Mark Donohue was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1990.
